Founder, Chief Media Officer at Underscore Marketing LLC
Tom Hespos is the founder and Chief Media Officer of Underscore Marketing, an independent agency specializing in health and healthy brands. Current clients include Novo Nordisk, Daiichi-Sankyo and Gilead Sciences. Recently, Tom and his team were responsible for integrated media strategy, planning and execution for the largest drug launch in U.S. history with Gilead’s Sovaldi.
In the health space, Tom has planned, bought and executed strategic campaigns for the likes of Schering-Plough, Pfizer and Bayer. Tom was also on the team that launched Medscape, where he not only launched their first digital ad campaign, but also untangled complex technology problems like protecting patient privacy by encrypting user data within Medscape’s ad server.
With over 20 years of integrated media experience, Tom has designed results-driven campaigns and technology innovations for clients like R.J. Reynolds, General Motors, Virgin Atlantic Airways, JP Morgan Chase, the U.S. Army and CareerBuilder.
Tom is also the founder of the Old Timers List, a private community of seasoned media professionals who were early entrants into the digital space. He is also currently the publisher of The Makegood, an industry trade publication that aims to keep advertisers and agency management on top of issues that affect their media investments.
Tom holds a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from Washington & Lee University and is a member of American Mensa. He lives on Long Island with his wife and three children.
